True Minorities Should Reject Gay Rights

Every once in a while I will decide to mix it up a little on the Liberal blogs I read to see what they are thinking. The recent uproar over California's Proposition 8 has proven a field day for Liberal bloggers. One assertion that continually comes up is that being gay is the same as being African American, Hispanic, and any other racial minority. It seems this comparison will actually diminish the true nature of Civil Rights by reducing one's belonging to  a group to an activity or preference.  If we are to follow the logic of this type of reductionist view of belonging to a particular group, then a couple of things follow.  First, we have to reduce ethnic and racial status to a set of activities not ancestral heritage.  Second, someone who is white could then become African American, Hispanic or any other ethnic minority just by engaging in that activity typically associated with such a group.  Now this ought to sound absurd, and yet this is exactly what the radical advocates of "gay rights" are arguing. I wonder how much longer it will be before true minorities respond to the attempt of gay rights activists to hijack their Civil Rights?

Here is one such instance where I challenged feminist thinking on this and the comments that followed. My comment is about 27 down from the article and then you can read the reactions and how they equate being gay with being a member of a racial minority.
